January 2, 1941 Badlands Federal Credit Union originally was named Dawson County Co-Operators Federal Credit Union and was started. The original field of membership "The field of membership will be limited to those having the following common bond of association, occupation or residence: members of the Farmers Union and the Farmers Union Oil Company of Glendive, Montana, who reside within a radius of 25 miles of Glendive, Montana; members of their immediate families; and organizations of such persons." January 14, 1976 The Board of Directors approved the change of the Credit Union's name to Badlands Federal Credit Union. February 20, 2015 Glendive Public Employees Federal Credit Union and Badlands Federal Credit Union merged, leaving Badlands Federal Credit Union as the surviving Credit Union.
