GR Consumers Credit Union was founded in 1941 by employees of Consumers Energy (formerly Consumers Power Company) to provide low cost loans and financial services to fellow employees. In 1985, GR Consumers Credit Union began expanding our field of membership by adding Business Partners. Businesses within a 25 mile radius of our office, who do not have a credit union of their own, are encouraged to offer membership at GR Consumers Credit Union to their employees. As an added benefit, immediate family members of these employees may join the credit union and enjoy the same membership advantages. In 2013, GRCCU expanded again when we became a community chartered credit union. This expanded our member to anyone who lives, works, worships or goes to school in the Michigan counties of Kent, Ottawa and Muskegon. Since our inception in 1941, we have grown to over $40 million in assets with 3600 members.
